11.08.23

California Fish Grill, a renowned fast-casual seafood destination, is excited to announce the return of sustainably sourced Mahi Mahi to its menu. With an unwavering commitment to responsible sourcing, the restaurant has identified pristine sources in Costa Rica and Peru, partnering with fisheries aligned with their sustainability mission. These fisheries, part of Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPS), have been positively recognized by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program.

We partner with a verified group of artisanal fishermen that have a proven history of mindful fishing practices which will promote the enjoyment of this delicious Mahi Mahi for many years to come,” said Chef Louie Jocson, vice president of food and beverage at California Fish Grill.

Mahi Mahi enthusiasts can savor a range of delectable menu options, including Mahi Mahi Tacos, Cali Bowl, and Grilled Fish Plate. The restaurant offers three enticing choices:

This reintroduction of Mahi Mahi reflects California Fish Grill's ongoing commitment to responsible and sustainable seafood practices. Two years ago, the company identified that its initial source for Mahi Mahi did not align with sustainable seafood practices. In response, California Fish Grill proactively removed the popular item from their menu and embarked on a mission to identify a new, more sustainable source while advocating for positive change in red-rated Mahi Mahi fisheries.

11.07.23

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County and Soka Performing Arts Center present "American Railroad" with Rhiannon Giddens and Silkroad Ensemble on November 11, at 8 p.m. at Soka Performing Arts Center. This project, conceived by Rhiannon Giddens, explores untold stories and unheard voices, shedding light on those often erased from American history, like Indigenous and African Americans, as well as Irish, Chinese, Japanese, and other immigrant laborers who contributed to the Transcontinental Railroad.

The program features new commissions by Cécile McLorin Salvant, Suzanne Kite, and Wu Man, along with reimagined arrangements by Giddens and fellow Silkroad artists. It's part of the Eclectic Orange Series and California Festival: A Celebration of New Music. Additional components of "American Railroad" include visual installations, an album, a documentary series, and educational materials.

The first tour takes place from November 5 to 18, 2023, with most concerts in California. It aims to give a more accurate portrayal of the American Empire's diverse origins and history.

Soka Performing Arts Center is located at 1 University Drive, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656. Ticket prices start at $55 and are available at the Philharmonic Society box office at (949) 553-2422, online at PhilharmonicSociety.org, at the Soka box office at (949) 480-4278 and online at performingarts.soka.edu.
